ダバ・デベレ・フンデ駐日エチオピア連邦民主共和国特命全権大使は、徳仁天皇陛下に信任状を捧呈しました。
陛下は、ご幼少期にご覧になった、1964年東京五輪でのアベベ・ビキラ選手の優勝の思い出を交えてお話しになり、大統領とエチオピア国民の健康と幸福を願われ、ダバ大使在任中の努力を応援するとのお言葉を述べられました。ダバ大使は、在任中、エチオピアと日本の両国関係をより高いレベルに引き上げるために尽力する旨を表明しました。
また、ダバ大使は、侍立大臣を務めた西村康稔経済産業大臣と会談しました。西村大臣はご自身のエチオピア訪問を回想し、同国の経済的ポテンシャルについて理解を示され、エチオピア政府のティグライ人民解放戦線（TPLF）との衝突の平和的解決を評価し、経済、貿易、産業の分野で両国の関係を強化するコミットメントを再確認されました。ダバ大使は、大臣のエチオピアへの理解と訪問を称賛し、両国間の経済、貿易、産業分野における二国間関係を強化すべく、大臣と協力する決意を改めて表明しました。
H.E. Ambassador Daba Debele presents his credentials to the Emperor of Japan
H.E. Ambassador Daba Debele, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Japan, has presented his credentials to the Emperor of Japan, His Majesty Naruhito.
His Majesty spoke about his memories of Abebe Bikila’s victory at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, wished for the health and happiness of the President and the people of Ethiopia. The emperor reaffirmed support to the Ambassador’s endeavors during tenure. H.E. Ambassador Daba Debele, on his part, expressed he would work to bring the existing relationship between Ethiopia and Japan to a higher level during his stay.
Alongside the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Daba met with H.E. Mr. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. On this occasion, the Minister has remembered his visit to Ethiopia and acknowledged the economic potential of the country. In addition, H.E. Mr. NISHIMURA praised the success of the government of Ethiopia in peaceful settlement of the conflict with TPLF and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen the relations between the two countries in the areas of economic, trade and industry. H.E. Ambassador Daba applauded the Minister for his understanding about Ethiopia and for his visit. In this regard, Ambassador reiterated his commitment to work together with the Minister to strengthen the economic, trade and industry related relationship between the two countries.
